It’s a celebration 25 years in the making!
Wake the kids, call the neighbors, circle the dates on your calendar (or put it in your smartphone) and join us for the biggest and best party of the year, Founders Day 2021!
Recognizing the community’s first residents, (it was June 18, 1996 for you history buffs), this year’s Founders Day offers a little something for everyone and is the perfect excuse to throw a party.
On your mark….get set….GO! Calling all runners, walkers and everyone in between, lace up those sneakers and enjoy a virtual dash.
As part of this year’s 25th anniversary Founders Day festivities, which are sponsored by Island Village at Celebration, residents, friends, relatives and admirers both locally and around the globe are invited to honor our Health Cornerstone by taking part in the virtual Founders Dash, which is being sponsored by AdventHealth. Everyone who registers for the Dash will receive a commemorative medal and event t-shirt. Registration, which is now open, is just $35 per person and can be completed at celebrationparksandrec.com. Registration deadline is October 20.
On Friday, November 12, it’s an evening to meet-up with old friends and get acquainted with new friends. Residents are invited to stop by and dance, sing, ride, play or just enjoy the evening at the Party in the Park.
This resident only event inside Lakeside Park will have the Technology Cornerstone on display. Highlighting the evening will be a Silent DJ Party on the Great Lawn. We provide the illuminated wireless headsets you supply the fun. Choose between different music options as on-site DJ’s keep you dancing and grooving alongside your friends and neighbors.
But wait, there’s more! Residents will also be able to enjoy authentic boardwalk midway games, carnival rides, live music, complimentary lite fare and libations (for purchase) as we ‘party in the park.’ The fun goes from 5 – 9 p.m.
Saturday, November 13 will see activities from morning until night.
Who loves a parade? Everyone!
Saturday begins with the Sense of Place Cornerstone and our Founders/Veterans parade in the community. Stepping off at 10 a.m., the march begins at Lakeside Park, moving along Front Street to Market Street, turning onto Celebration Avenue, before ending at Founders Park. Contact the Town Hall lifestyle office, lifestyle@celebrationtownhall.com or 407-566-1200 for your application to participate.
At 11 a.m., in Founders Park, join us for a community salute to our Celebration veterans and all veterans across this great land.
With a focus on our Education Cornerstone, learn about the sacrifices that the brave men and women of our Armed Forces gave us with the annual Veterans Ceremony and changing of the flag. Held in conjunction with the Veterans Club of Celebration, this event, along with the Memorial Day Flag Ceremony, are excellent ways to say ‘thank you’ to our Veterans.
The ceremony traditionally features participation by community groups, such as Garden Club of Celebration, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and songs by the Celebration Chorus.
Say cheese! Following the Veterans ceremony, at noon in Founders Park, residents are invited to grab a spot, flash a smile and forever be immortalized in the community photo.
Later Saturday we put the proverbial bow on the package, as we come together to honor the Sense of Community Cornerstone with a community celebration.
Kicking off at 4 p.m. in Town Center, stop by and enjoy some tasty morsels or maybe a libation or two, as our downtown establishments will be set up in true street party fashion. Enjoy the music of John Frinzi & Friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on the stage at Market and Front Streets.
Then at 7:30 p.m., we heat up the night with our headline performance, featuring national recording artist Caroline Jones. Currently wrapping up a tour with the Zac Brown Band and getting set to embark on a solo trek, Caroline has toured with Jimmy Buffett & the Eagles, Zac Brown Band & OneRepublic, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Vince Gill and Kip Moore. Learn more about Caroline at carolinejones.com.
There will be limited table seating available on a first come basis for residents. However, everyone is invited to bring along their own chairs to stake out a spot for the evening.
Immediately following Caroline’s performance, turn your sights upward as we paint the night sky with a special 25th anniversary fireworks spectacular.
